Tournament Structure for the Indian Premier League
In 2008, the IPL was first staged by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). Back then, the league was contested by eight teams, although not all eight participating teams are the same as in the beginning. In 2022, two teams were added, stretching the league to a ten-team competition. During the season, which lasts from April through May, each team plays each other twice, once home and onc𓂃e away.
At the end of this phase of the competition, the top four teams contest in the playoffs. Here, the top two sides play each other in the first match, with the winner going into the final, and the l🌞osing team playing again in the next qualifier, where they play the winner of the third- ♉and fourth-placed teams qualifier.
The winner of this match will be the second team to take part in the final, where the winner of that season’s Indian Premier League 💞will be crowned. The team that win🌊s the Indian Premier League receives just short of $3 million, with the runners-up taking home $ 1.8 million.

Indian Pemier League Betting Tips & Predictions 2022
-
Over the next couple of months we will witness a carnival of cricket, thanks to the Indian Premier League taking centre-stage. Expect packed crowds, monster boundaries and devastating bowling displays, with T20 cricket continuing to grow in popularity and the Chennai Super Kings remaining the team to beat.
-
Six months ago, the Super Kings claimed a stunning 27-run over the Kolkata Knight Riders – that being said, there has been some debate about just how good this Super Kings side is. MS Dhoni remains instrumental, and although he is one of the most scrutinised players in India, he is very handy with the bat. However, the veteran will need to stand up and be counted if his side are going to defend the title. Nevertheless, the Super Kings are trading at 9/1 with most bookmakers, and they may find things tougher going this time𝄹. If they reach the final, they will have done well.
-
In terms of picking a winner, you may lean more towards the Delhi Capitals. They can be backed at 5/1 with most leading bookmakers, and while they are favourites, they possess plenty of power in the batting line-up. For example, Lalit Yadav is in great shape, and 🍃he is not afraid to take on the bowling attack of any IPL franchise in the competition. If they can settle into the groove quickly, then he could end up go🍌ing all the way.
-
Alternatively, you may find more value in the Punjab Kings. They may not be the most glamorous side in the competition, and have yet to reach a final since the inception of the tournament in 2008, but they are making serious progress. Perhaps this could be the year when things change, meaning they will be the ones to keep an eye on. Currently, they are in the 7s mark, and they could be a serious force.
-
Meanwhile, the Rajasthan Royals probably ought to be a little lower in terms of their outright odds to win. The Royals were the first-ever winners of the IPL, and while the team has endured a lot of changes in more recent times, they should not be discounted. At the moment, they are nearly 9/1 to win the tournament, though perhaps they should be a little shorter t𒈔han that. Either way, they will be a joy to watch.

Popular IPL Cricket Betting Markets
Given the thrills of the Indian Premier League itself, the passion of the locals and the amount of betting opportunities that this excellent competition delivers, it's not a surprise that so many want to bet on IPL cricket🥃. We've listed below the most popular betting markets for your consideration.
IPL Outright Winner
Why not place a bet on the team that you think will win the IPL? This market wil✤l be available all season long, meaning you can place your bet either before the 𝐆league begins or as it unfolds. It will pay out if your chosen team is crowned IPL champion. You can also bet on a team making the playoffs, if that feels like a more sensible bet.
Best Indian Premier League betting site for Outright Winner: NetBet
Live Betting
In-play betting works well with most sports, but it is particularly suited to cricket since matches typically last about 3 hours and 20 minutes. That creates many great opportunities for live betting.
But what can you bet on in real time with IPL cricket? Well, IPL live score betting has always been popular, as has Next Wicket-Taker, Next Six Hit and Making a Century. Remember – by placing a small bet, some sites will even allow you to unlock their IPL livestreaming services too.

To Finish Bottom
If there's a team you feel is doomed and likely to be propping up the rest come the end of the season, then this is a good bet for that. As with the Outright Winner bet, this can be made either before the season gets underway, or during it. Of course, as the season continues, the picture regarding likely outcomes at either end of th﷽e table becomes clearer, so you'll have a better idea of what might happen. However, needless to say, this cause any IPL betting odds to fluctuate.

Top Batsman
You can think of this type of bet as a Top Scorer bet in football, with the difference being that in cricket, the scoring is done by the batters. In all likelihood, the same names will contest this award each season, so looking into past batting🍃🌃 averages is a good idea for those looking to make an informed bet.

History of the Indian Premier League (IPL)
The original Indian Cricket League (ICL) was founded in 2007, ༺but unfortunately it was not initially recognised by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) or the International Cricket Council (ICC), with the BCCI displeased that its own committee members were signing up to the breakaway league. In order to squash the new movement, the BCCI raised the prize money in their existing tournaments while at the same time threatening to ban anyone considering joining the ICL.
To counter, in September 2007, the BCCI announced that they would, in 2008, ꦿbe launching the Indian Premier League, a franchise-based Twenty20 cricket competition. The Indian Cricket League soon folded in 2008. Two new teams joined the league in 2010 when Pune Warriors India, who no longer exist, and Kochi Tuskers Kerala signed up. The extended league wasn’t to last for long, however, as within a year Kochi Tuskers Kerala were terminated, and a year after that, the Deccan Chargers, the 2009 champions, would also become extinct.
The league was the subject of a match-fixing scandal in 2015 which, in order to clear up the competition💃, resulted in two-time champions Chennai Super Kings and the first ever winners of the IPL the Rajasthan Royals, both being suspended for two seasons. On their return to IPL cric🌄ket participation, the Chennai Super Kings were again crowned champions in 2018.
In 2020, the competition was held in the United Arab Emirates due to concerns surrounding the ongoing pandemic. The following year, the tournament was suspended indefinitely, following increased health risks. At the time when it was suspended, 29 of the scheduled 60 matches had been played. The BCCI would later announce that the remaining matche𒁃s would also be played in the United Arab Emirates.
