Tournament Structure for The Players Championship
The Players takes place on the Players Stadiu🔯m Course aཧt the world-famous TPC Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, USA.
The four-day tournament works the same as many of the stroke play events on the tour, in that all the players tee-off in the first round of 18 on a Thursday. Round two is staged on the Friday, after whi♛ch there i🌸s a cut-off for players to either be eliminated from competition or continue on to Saturday’s third round.
On Sunday, the final day is held where the leading players – those with the lowest under-par score – are the last to tee off and play their final round of 18. By the close of play, assuming there isn’t a tie, then the winner – the player with biggest under-par total from the four days combined – will be crowned.
Should there be a tie, then those players on the same score will replay the finꦍal three holes, including the Island Green, until a victor emerges.

The Players Championship is the brainchild of the former PGA Tour commissioner Deane Beman. The first event was staged at the , Georgia, USA.

One year later the tournament was on the move again, this time to South Florida and the Inverrary Country Club in Lauderhill. After three years over here, the event replaced the Atlanta Classic in 1974, the Colonial National Invitational in 1975 and the Jackie Gleason Inverrary Classic in 1976, all of which were 💝restored to the schedule the following year in 1977.
That same year, the event moved northwards to the Sawgrass Country Club in Ponte Vedra Beach where it remained until 1982, when it was first staged at its current Floridian home, the TP✤C at Sawgrass Stadium Course in Ponte Vedra Beach.
